The Girls Aloud singer is in the process of divorcing her husband, Ashley Cole, and is looking to start a fresh once the separation is complete – with the States as her ideal destination. She is hoping to kickstart her career across the pond, with the help of Simon Cowell and a possible role on the US X Factor.

A source explained to The Sun:

“Cheryl has people looking at houses. She goes into X Factor when she finished the current tour. That takes her up to Christmas. But she is keen to close a chapter and start a new life in America.”

And another insider spoke to the Evening Standard about Simon’s plans for Cheryl…

“She is very close to signing a deal worth millions with Simon. She will be free to pursue her career in America, where Simon is convinced she could be a huge star.”

Simon Cowell is renowned for turning British acts into stars in the States, with Leona Lewis a prime example, so we already have high expectations for Cheryl. The only thing we want know is… what does this mean for Girls Aloud?
