Cheryl Cole divorce: We reveal who gets what in the £20 million “quickie divorce”
Cheryl Cole has spoken of her joy that her marriage will finally end today, saying: “Thank God the nightmare is over”.
The Girls Aloud star is said to be relieved to have achieved a “divorce with dignity”.
A pal said: “It’s been a horrible few months for her, but at last she can look forward to the future.
“She feels like a massive weight has been lifted off her shoulders. She thinks it’s sad the way things have turned out, but life goes on.”
Neither Cheryl, 27, nor Chelsea left-back Ashley, 27, are expected to be present when their four-year marriage is officially declared over at the High Court in London today.
The X Factor judge is in Los Angeles while England star Ashley will face Bulgaria at Wembley tonight. Their case – numbered FD10D02550 – will be the first of 29 to be rubber-stamped by District Judge Christopher Simmonds. In a break from protocol, only their initials – CAC v AC – were listed yesterday at the court, unlike the other couples’ cases. Their decree nisi is to be announced at 10am in Court 9 of the Principal Registry of the High Court’s Family Division in High Holborn, central London.
Cheryl Cole is releasing her second solo album later this year – under her married name.
It will be the title of her CD which finally confirms that despite her imminent divorce from love rat hubby ASHLEY COLE she is not switching to her maiden name Tweedy.
The singer, 27, fully recovered from life-threatening malaria in time to finish recording sessions in LA. X Factor judge Cheryl says her move was inspired by chart legend TINA TURNER, 70, who kept husband and bandmate Ike’s name after their 1976 divorce.
And a source said: “Cheryl has decided her married name will stay. She feels the most successful period of her career has been under the name Cole. “She’s established in Europe. Going back to her maiden name Tweedy would be confusing.
“It also shows she is bigger than Ashley and prepared to be grown up about a difficult time in her life. She is a fan of Tina Turner. Tina was divorced during her career but decided to stick with her married name because it was how she was best known.”
Ironically, Cheryl’s passport is still in her maiden name. She renewed it for ten years when she started touring with Girls Aloud in 2005. Her mail is also often addressed to Cheryl Tweedy.
She will perform the first single of the new album on the X Factor in October.
I would just like to take the time to wish Cheryl a very Happy 27th Birthday. We hope you have a wonderful day, with your family and close friends. With love from everyone at GirlsAloudMedia xx

Cheryl Cole is concerned after hearing that Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am has been targeted by thieves, a report has claimed.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that $10,000 (£6,688) worth of personal items had been stolen from the hip-hop artist’s Bentley after the vehicle was broken into. A laptop, mobile phone and jewellery are thought to be among the missing property.
According to the Daily Star, Cole is panicking over the news because she fears material from her next album could be in the hands of the robbers. will.i.am has been working with the X Factor judge as she puts the LP together.
Cole is also said to be worried that text messages she sent to the rapper could be on the missing phone.
A source said: “She is on tenterhooks waiting to find out whether anything of hers was taken.”
Cole toured with will.i.am and the rest of the Black Eyed Peas earlier this year.
Once again offering up a dazzling performance, Cheryl Cole took to the stage for the last show of her UK tour at the LG Arena in Birmingham on Tuesday night (June 1).
The former Girls Aloud singer swapped in and out of sexy dance ensembles and well-cut military garb while tending to opening duties for the Black Eyed Peas.
The tour comes as Cheryl is fresh off of filing for divorce from Chelsea and England footballer Ashley Cole just last month.
Coming after accusations of infidelity, a source told that Miss Cole is moving on, saying, “Cheryl has had a massive clear-out, like anyone would after a break-up. She has closed that chapter of her life so she wants rid of a lot things they have accumulated.”
Derek Hough took to the stage with Cheryl Cole, for the first time during Cheryl’s support act on the Black Eyed Peas European tour, at London’s 02 arena on the 28th May 2010.
