Nadine Coyle: I miss the drama of Girls Aloud
Nadine Coyle has admitted she misses being in Girls Aloud, despite being snubbed by her former bandmates at the weekend during Cheryl’s X Factor performance.
She revealed that going it alone on stage means she misses out on certain elements of performing that she used to love when she was in the fivesome.
And as for the moral support she would get from the rest of the girls – Cheryl Cole, Nicola Roberts, Sarah Harding and Kimberley Walsh – she divulged she has had to ‘call in more recruits’ to replace them.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk about performing alone, she would ‘love’ to do her own tour but she’d miss getting glammed up and giving Lady Gaga a run for her money.
‘Do you know what I miss? I miss the drama of it all.
‘There are certain things you can only do when there are five girls. The hanging from the roof, the flying across the stage and all that kind of stuff. We were like caricatures.
‘If you think about the ‘Can’t Speak French’ era when there was just so much hair and the Basques and the glitter. All those kind of looks. If I walked out here now in a Basque and stockings people would be like, ‘she needs to be locked away’. But if you walk in as five people in a group doing it it’s just a look, it’s camp it’s the one to top.
‘Lady Gaga is the only solo artist who can get away with it. I won’t be going down that road. But I’ll mask that flamboyance of Girls Aloud.’
The nostalgia-filled comments come after it emerged that Nadine was the only Girls Aloud member not present at Cheryl’s X Factor performance on Sunday night. It later transpired she wasn’t invited.
Cheryl Cole wrapped up her UK tour last night with one helluva sexy performance.
Songstress Cheryl Cole, who performed at Birmingham’s LG Arena on the last date of her UK tour, wowed fans with a series of eye-popping outfits and intimate routines with her dancer pal Derek Hough.
Stepping out on stage in a series of midriff-baring leotards, thigh-split trousers and knicker-skimming dresses, Chezza went down a treat with the crowd as she performed a string of hits.
But while she raised the temperature by draping herself around Dancing With The Stars professional Derek (who must think he’s the luckiest bloke on the planet), it wasn’t until Will.i.am arrived that things got preeeetty heavy.
The 26-year-old couldn’t stop grinning when the Black Eyed Pea joined her on stage for their duet and continued to beam the entire way through their rendition of 3 Words. Interesting.
