Girls Aloud plan Wembley farewell
GIRLS Aloud are planning a spectacular gig at Wembley Stadium to round off a decade in the music biz next year.
I’m told all five Love Machines are committed to a farewell concert in front of a massive 80,000 fans – if they can sell enough tickets.
Although their plans are in the early stages of negotiations, I can reveal Cheryl, Nicola, Sarah, Kimberley and Nadine (surprisingly) will get back on stage for some gigs.
Other possibilities include an ITV2 behind-the-scenes documentary, an ITV1 “Audience With” show and a repackaged greatest hits album with some new tracks.
I caught up with Nicola this week and she told me: “We will all definitely be coming together to do something for our tenth anniversary.
“Personally, I would love to do the whole lot – a new album, tour, the full shebang.
“But it depends what everyone else wants to do. I’m really, really excited about it.”
After a bit more digging my own GA source let slip: “The early talk is a short three-week tour towards the end of the year, finishing at Wembley.
“The Wembley Stadium idea is to get a few of the hottest girlbands and female performers like Leona Lewis, The Saturdays and Alexandra Burke on board and bill it as Ladies Night, with them headlining.
“It would be a good way for the band to pretty much say goodbye – maybe forever.
“If it doesn’t come off fans will definitely get the chance to see all five singing together again.”
With Sugababes clinging on and The Saturdays failing to step-up to the mark, I’d love to see Girls Aloud come
back to Call The Shots again!
Cheryl tweets about Amy Walsh and watching a GA tour DVD!
Most of you know by now that Cheryl Cole’s Official Twitter page is @CherylCole
I wont post her tweets all the time here, same with Nicola’s or Nadine’s (Sarah and Kimberley don’t have twitter yet) but i thought her tweets were too lovely not to miss out.
Last night Cheryl found herself watching Hollyoaks Later on E4, where you might remember Amy, Kimberley’s sister is starring in. Amy plays Mercedes McQueen’s sister Jenifique in the spin-off show.
Just watched Amy Walsh on Hollyoaks later.. Finding it hard to wrap my head around her playing someone else but feel sooo proud of her!
That tweet had a few of the cast tweeting their excitement that Cheryl had watched them. Its funny how we don’t realise celebs are normal and watch TV just like us, curled on the couch with a tea and hobnobs!
Cheryl then tweeted something that all Girls Aloud fans will love:
Just been on a trip down memory lane…
I just watched the GA Tangled Up Tour DVD.. I love that we did ‘push it’ lmao.. I can not believe that was 2008…
Amazing memories.. Covered in goosebumps..
Who’s going to be watching their copy of the DVD tonight then?!
Kimberley recently did an interview in Zest magazine, prompting fresh news that Girls Aloud ‘will definately tour in 2012′.
She was quoted in the magazine as saying:
I’d like to do more acting, but, to be honest, being in the band has surpassed everything I ever dreamed of doing with my life. The girls will have been together for ten years next year and that’s definitely going to be celebrated with a tour. I can’t say any more until next year – but I’m really looking forward to it.
However a fan got a DM on Twitter from Kimberley’s PR company (@InstinctPR), who are handling her PUMA campaign she is fronting.
Kimberley mentioned that she’s looking forward to the girls getting back together and she mentioned that she was looking forward to being back on stage with the girls. But nothing is concrete and they’re still planning it all.
It looks like the magazine assumed it was finalised!
We can only hope there is at least something in the pipeline for next year, and if it is a tour, tickets will need to be on sale before Christmas at least!
Cheryl Cole to reunite with Girls Aloud for 2012 Tour?
Cheryl Cole has decided to put her US ‘X Factor’ heartbreak behind her by reuniting with her Girls Aloud bandmates for a 2012 tour according to Louis Walsh.
Cheryl Cole will recover from her US ‘X Factor’ heartbreak by reuniting with Girls Aloud.
The British pop star – who was dumped from the judging panel of the pop star search show last week – has decided to put the incident behind her, resurrect the on-hiatus group and focus on arranging a tour with her bandmates Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts, Kimberley Walsh and Nadine Coyle, according to Cheryl’s former UK ‘X Factor’ co-star Louis Walsh
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz at the Wonderland launch at the Wyld Bar at the W Hotel, London, he said: “I’ve been on the phone to Cheryl all day, honestly I can show you texts, she’s fine. She’s getting back with Girls Aloud in 2012 and they’re going to tour.”
Cheryl’s decision to reunite with Girls Aloud comes after it was revealed she decided not to return to the UK version of the show and both she and the other female judge Dannii Minogue were replaced by Tulisa Contostavlos and Kelly Rowland.
Girls Aloud are set to reform for a world tour next year.
‘The Promise’ group are to dispel rumours they do not get along and will never perform together again by making a comeback ahead of their 10th anniversary in 2012.
The group went on hiatus in July 2009 – originally planned for 12 months – so they could pursue other projects. Since then two of the group’s five members, Cheryl Cole and Nadine Coyle, have released solo albums, while the others, Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh have concentrated on projects outside of music.
Cheryl, 27, has also been featured as a judge on TV programme ‘The X Factor’, and is said to be in talks about having a role in a US version of the show, planned for later this year.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: “Early next year is pencilled in for the reunion tour. It’s going to be absolutely massive.
“Cheryl could be a US superstar by then if her appearance on American ‘X Factor’ goes according to plan this autumn, so they want to capitalise on that.
“It will also be the band’s 10-year anniversary in 2012, so the timing is just perfect.”
Despite rumours of a rift between the girls, they are all set to be at the wedding of Sarah, 29, and DJ Tom Crane later this year.
Sarah said: “All the girls will be at the hen night and, of course, the wedding. I really wish everyone would stop saying we don’t get on.”
The group have made one appearance together since their hiatus started, supporting Coldplay at Wembley Stadium in London in September 2009.
Cheryl has previously said of the group’s plans to continue: “We did sign a three album record deal just before we all did our own thing. There are three albums just sitting there waiting to do – it just hasn’t been put into place yet.”
Usher has invited Cheryl Cole to support him on the London leg of his OMG Tour and has promised to take the Girls Aloud beauty out on a date if she agrees to join him.
The DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love singer, who has previously confessed he was a fan of Chezza’s, has even suggested he will take her out for a typically British roast dinner if she takes up his offer of being his warm-up act for the shows at the O2 Arena next February.
Usher told The Mirror: “Cheryl is so pretty … I spent a little time with her in England last month at The X Factor. I’m sure she’s gonna make it in the States. She’s got it going on.”
“I want Cheryl on stage for sure. It will be really nice, if she has time. She got moves.”
He continued: “Afterwards maybe we can have a roast dinner, or we’ll get Newcastle Brown Ale. That’s what you guys like, right?”
Cheryl Cole could be set to hit the road next year to plug her new album Messy Little Raindrops as her new single Promise This looks set to top the charts today.
According to the Daily Mirror, the singer is keen to perform a series of dates next spring.
There have been talks about arena gigs but her managers wants Cheryl to start small first, the paper reports.
A source said: ‘Cheryl’s definitely touring. She could probably fill the O2 Arena but they don’t want to go too big too quickly.’
‘It will most likely be mid-capacity venues seating around 1,500 people.’
‘But she wants it to be the start of her career as a pop performer.’
Chezza is expected to top the charts later today with the single Promise This, which is taken from the new album.
The singer recently performed the track on X Factor, where she also acts as judge.
Strutting around the stage in knee-high zebra print tights, leather boots and a revealing white and black fashion jacket, Cheryl oozed sex appeal in a faultless routine.
