It must be hard being Nicola Roberts. Imagine living your life knowing that at any point you might be CRUSHED BY THE WEIGHT OF YOUR OWN AMAZINGNESS. She copes fairly well with this curse, it has to be said, and part of her coping mechanism has been to rope in Dragonette, of ‘supremely excellent debut album, supremely excellent second album’ fame, to work with her on what will be her second single.

Nicola Roberts nominated for The Popjustice Twenty Quid Music Prize
 

twenty quid music prize popjusticeThe 9th annual Popjustice Twenty Quid Music Prize nominations have been announced today, and Nicola’s debut solo single ‘Beat of my Drum’ has been shortlisted!

The awards “recognises amazingness in the field of pop music by awarding twenty quid (cash) to the artist responsible for the best British pop single of the previous last twelve months”.

Girls Aloud have won it 5 times in past years, with Nicola even picking up the award (a crisp £20 note) for The Promise in 2009.

Artists shortlisted and competing for the prize this year consists of Adele, Jessie J, The Saturdays, Take That and The Wanted.
