Cheryl Cole has reportedly snubbed former The X Factor contestants Alexandra Burke and Olly Murs , by asking not to be seated with them at The 2011 BRIT Awards next month.
According to the Daily Star, Chezza has requested to be sat separately from the XF alumni because she wants to be recognised as a “successful solo artist” and not just a talent show judge who is pals with Simon Cowell.
The Girls Aloud singer, who has been nominated for two gongs at the star-studded bash, is said to have made it clear that she wants to be acknowledged for her music and for being a star in her own right.
A BRITs source told the newspaper: “Cheryl has had a fantastic year professionally. And quite rightfully she would love to be recognised for her musical achievements solely. She’s made it clear she would prefer not to be with the X Factor stars.”
“Cheryl doesn’t mean to be picky but she’s asked not to be seated at the same table as Alexandra Burke or Olly Murs. She wants to walk down the red carpet by herself and be pictured by herself as a solo musician. She is a true star.”
The insider added: “She loves Alexandra and is very proud of Olly but would prefer not to be grouped with the X Factor crew so she can be set apart and treated as a performer.”
The former X Factor finalist is nominated for Best Single for his song Please Don’t Let Me Go, in the same category as X Factor judge Cheryl.
Olly said his idea for a Brits stunt would be to: “Get up on stage and snog Cheryl. That would be amazing, wouldn’t it?”
He added: “If she’s performing. I don’t know if she is.
“Every year there’s always something outrageous. I’m not really that kind of character though. I’m a bit cheeky but I don’t think I’d be able to get up and do something that outrageous.
“But if I get a few drinks down me, anything could happen.”
Despite Cole’s budding romance with US dancer Derek Hough, Murs plans to try to catch the Girls Aloud singer on her own.
‘I’m not going to lie, she is unbelievable. She smells good, she looks good,’ the smitten 26-year-old said.
‘If I go back on The X Factor this year, I’m going to go straight to her dressing room,’ the Essex lad told Heart FM.
He described how Cole, 27, surprised him as he napped backstage at the talent show.
‘I opened my eyes and there’s Cheryl looking at me. “Hi Olly.” I was like, “Seriously, is there anyone else in the room? Just lock the door!” And I could smell this scent…’
Meanwhile, malaria-stricken Cole hit LA on Saturday for the first time since her release from hospital.
