NEWLY-DIVORCED Cheryl Cole is house-hunting in the Hollywood Hills after telling friends she will move to America in the New Year.

Cheryl Cole is expected to return to Britain today ready to make her big X Factor comeback after beating malaria.

But Cheryl, who has just had a new tattoo on her lower back, has vowed to head back to Los Angeles when the ­reality show finishes at Christmas.

A source close to the Girls Aloud singer revealed: “Cheryl has told pals her New Year’s resolution is to move to LA.

“She knows she needs to make it her permanent residence if she wants to crack America with her music.

“And now her and Ashley are ­divorced, there’s no reason why she should stay in England.

“For the first time in months, Cheryl feels like she’s completely in control of her life again.
“She was obviously devastated about splitting with Ashley but now the ­divorce has gone through she feels a lot more positive.

“She even celebrated the quickie ­settlement by getting a new tattoo on her lower back to signify life without Ashley.”

Cheryl is rumoured to be leaving X Factor for a judging place on the American version late next year.

Show boss Simon Cowell and dancer pal Derek Hough have been roped in to help her find an LA home.

But Cheryl has also put in an offer on a house in North-west London’s plush Primrose Hill area – made famous by model Kate Moss.

Her pal added: “Cheryl has fallen in love with LA but there is no way she could completely move away from England.

“There’s no way she would leave her mum Joan, for ­starters. She’s still a true northern lass at heart.”

Meanwhile ex-hubby ­Ashley’s estranged dad Ron Callender has told his son he’s only got himself to blame.

He said: “He’s got nobody to blame for the divorce but himself and he’s got to see it from Cheryl’s point of view.”

Cheryl, 27, then went back yesterday to continue recording her second album.

‘She booked the studio for a week, though she’ll see how many days she can manage,’ a source tells the Daily Star. ‘But she is not the sort of person to lie in bed waiting to get better…

‘Cheryl is really geared towards making it in the US and feels well enough to push on.’

Cheryl Cole is planning to relocate to Los Angeles after realising that she wants to be with Derek Hough, according to reports. The Girls Aloud singer is currently enjoying a holiday with Derek in California as she continues her recovery from a life-threatening bout of malaria.

And she is enjoying her time with the Dancing With The Stars winner so much that she is willing to move to the US permanently to be close to him once the new series of The X Factor is over.

A source told the News of the World “Cheryl has been having an absolute blast in LA. She and Derek are getting on really well and she’s feeling like a completely new woman.

“She has been beaming and everyone has noticed it. She’s confident and bubbly and hasn’t been down at all, even though her divorce is so close to being finalised.”

According to the Daily Star Sunday, Cheryl is so happy with life in Los Angeles that she has told Simon Cowell she wants to film her judges’ houses section of The X Factor there before flying home for the live shows.

Cheryl is also confident her new man can help to secure success for one of her competitors on the new series of the talent show.

A friend explained: “Cheryl thinks that having dancer and choreographer Derek on board will boost her chances of winning.

“She can help with their singing and he can teach them some moves.”

Cheryl Cole showed once and for all she is definitely on the road to recovery yesterday, as she left her hotel to go shopping with friend Derek Hough.

The 27-year-old couldn’t stop smiling as she indulged in some retail therapy wearing an all American girl outfit of a trendy checked shirt, tiny pair of shorts and high tan sandals.

And it wasn’t just window shopping the Girls Aloud star enjoyed – she picked up two pairs of £180 Nike Air Max trainers during her day out at The Grove, apparently to help her on her quest to be fit and healthy as she recovers from malaria.

Cheryl also had a look around the Nordstrom and Abercrombe and Fitch stores with Derek, who looked casual in a pale blue shirt and jeans.

It already seems Cheryl’s Los Angeles holiday, which she started last week, is doing her the world of good, as the star looked happy and healthy as she stepped out yesterday.

Cheryl Cole made sure to look her best for Derek Hough during a dinner date in Los Angeles and resorted back to her hair extensions.

The 27-year-old looked a picture of health as the close friends dined at Nobu restaurant in Beverly Hills.

Cheryl was back to her glamorous self with long hair extensions and complemented the look with dangling silver earrings and a black leather jacket.

The X Factor judge and her dancer pal were rumoured to have been joined by Derek’s sister Julianne and her American Idol presenter boyfriend, Ryan Seacrest.

Despite looking fresh faced and radiant though, reports have said that Cheryl’s been complaining of a fever and lethargy during her stay in LA.

A source told the Daily Mail: ‘Cheryl is doing her best to put weight on and relax but she is not finding it easy.

‘She has been feeling particularly unwell since she got to LA and everyone is worried.’

The source continued that she lost 10 pounds while having malaria but is doing her best to eat well and get her figure back.

Hough is allegedly making Cheryl eat three meals a day, which might explain why he treated her to swanky Nobu.

The GIRLS ALOUD singer has had little contact with her bandmates during their 12-month break.

But yesterday she attended the unveiling of the Kinect motion-sensing device for Xbox 360, joining stars including JACK OSBOURNE and RYAN PHILLIPPE on the red carpet.

The Irish singer looked in top shape in a short colourful dress which showed off her famous pins.

Bandmate NICOLA ROBERTS insisted recently there was “no feud” between Nadine and the rest of the girls.

Maybe now they can keep in touch via online gaming?
