L.A. Reid Confims Cheryl Cole As US X Factor Judge?

Former Def Jam label boss, L.A. Reid was announced as the second judge on the US X Factor a few weeks ago an now he’s revealed that Cheryl Cole has landed another of the coveted panel spots.

For months now, speculation as to whether or not Cheryl would land a role on the show has been growing and now it seems as though a decision has been made.

It was thought that Cheryl could miss out on the job as it was widely reported that FOX network bosses didn’t think the Promise This star had a high enough profile in the US. However, it looks like the Geordie beauty won them over.

L.A. Reid reportedly told The Mirror: “We’re gonna compete against American Idol just fine. I’m very confident. But along with Simon Cowell and Cheryl, I don’t know who the other judge is.”

A source told the Sunday People: “Doubts over Cheryl’s profile seem to have been dismissed by the reaction to her from people turning up.”

They also added: “Fox TV bigwigs dropped many of their objections to her having a judging slot… They were really impressed by how popular she already is. That clinched it for her.”

Is this just a misquote or slip of the tongue? Are you happy or sad that Cheryl could be going to US?

Double pay for Cheryl

cheryl cole x factorCHERYL COLE will be able to save face if she doesn’t get the US X Factor job.

Bosses of the UK version of the TV show have made the Geordie a huge offer to stay – they are prepared to double her pay.

That would make her the highest-earning woman on telly.

It is a nice predicament for the singer – either way she’s going to get a big fat cheque out of it.

A source said: “Cheryl is being tempted with a bigger salary and if she takes it then it won’t look like she’s failed in the US.

“ITV are in turmoil about the UK version as everything is still up in the air.

“They know by keeping Cheryl half of their problems will be solved. She’s still the biggest advertising draw.

“But, of course, if she does get the US job she’ll take it like a shot.”

A final decision about whether she will join SIMON COWELL and LA REID on the US X Factor panel will be made this month.

NICOLE SCHERZINGER, NICKI MINAJ, PAULA ABDUL and MARIAH CAREY have all been tapped up for the gig.

Cheryl Cole hints at X Factor role snub

Cheryl Cole has given her strongest hint yet that her US X Factor dream may be over.

She admitted her career diary was empty as boss Simon Cowell and co procrastinate on whether to give her the job. ‘I really plan to not plan,’ the 27-year singer and X Factor judge told Glamour magazine.

‘I’ve had my life mapped out for the best part of ten years, so for now I just want to enjoy myself and live in the moment.’

With hopes of a starring US role in the balance, Cole also delivered a defiant retort to American TV bosses who said people would struggle to understand her Geordie accent.

‘It’s going nowhere. Absolutely nowhere’, she insisted after it was suggested she should get elocution lessons.

And it might not be such a bad thing after all if the Fight For This Love singer returns to Britain as she misses the food and drink here.

‘Ringtons tea from Newcastle is the best. I always ask my family to bring me some when they visit,’ she claimed.

‘I also miss British chocolate, American chocolate is awful! It’s like wax. I have to get some Dairy Milk or Galaxy brought out. As for their KitKats… I don’t know how they can even call them KitKats.’

Another aspect of American life she might not miss is the obsession with health regimes. ‘I honestly don’t have one,’ the Girls Aloud beauty boasted.

‘People give themselves too much of a hard time with stuff like that – just do it if you want to. I don’t have a regime that I regularly stick to. But the TV out here is non-stop with adverts for the latest health craze.’

Instead, Cole claims you’re far more likely to find her relaxing on the couch with her favourite tea and chocolate watching the royal wedding – after she became a confirmed fan of Kate Middleton.

‘I can’t wait to see Kate’s dress,’ she added. ‘She’s going to look beautiful. I asked my hairdresser what she thinks Kate does to her hair to get it that shiny. She looks as though she just wakes up with it looking like that.’

Cowell and Cole quit UK X Factor?

cheryl coleA tabloid has claimed that judges Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole have decided not to take part in the next series of ‘The X Factor’ in the UK.

The News of the World says Cowell and Cole, tipped to work together on his US version of the show, have told ITV bosses that they would not have the time to appear on both programmes.

Cowell is quoted by “a friend” as saying: “I’m committed to the American show and I’m not going to do both.”

A source told the paper: “Simon would have to produce two big shows at the same time and he and Cheryl would have to mentor and judge acts in both countries. It would just be too much for them.”

Cowell appeared to say last week in a US interview that he would still appear on both shows.

Cheryl Cole ‘gets £10m US X Factor deal’

cheryl cole america praiseCheryl Cole has reportedly signed a deal worth around £10m to become a judge on the US version of The X Factor.

The Girls Aloud singer has been subject to much speculation over her place on the show, but Simon Cowell is said to have finally persuaded US TV executives to give her a slot on the panel.

“Simon is the boss of this show,” a source told the News of the World. “He gets what he wants and he wants Cheryl. The money you make on American TV is huge, but there’s also a huge risk.

“The way American contracts are gives Fox the chance to opt out if viewers don’t take to her. But Simon won’t let that happen.”

Cole is expected to use the show as a springboard for a music career in America: “As soon as it’s announced she’s going to be a judge the plan will be to launch her music career in the States,” the source added.

“It’s important Americans realise she’s a credible music star if she’s going to be judging other singers.”

Meanwhile, Cowell is now trying to arrange for both Cole and himself to star on the US and UK versions of the singing competition simultaneously.

Nicola Roberts: I couldn’t be on the X Factor like Cheryl

Nicola Roberts has revealed that she could never be a judge on a TV show, like her Girls Aloud bandmate Cheryl Cole, as she hated it when she gave it a go.

The red haired singer, 25, was once a judge on a fashion show but admitted that she didn’t enjoy the experience and wouldn’t do it again.

She told Company magazine: ‘I did a bit of judging for Britain’s Next Top Model and I hated it. I could see the girls getting upset and I remembered what it was like when I was in their position.

‘You can’t be b****y or flippant – I find it difficult to criticise, I mean, who am I to judge? No, that’s Cheryl’s job.’

Roberts also touched on her relationship with her Girls Aloud bandmates, claiming that although they don’t plan on recording together in the foreseeable future, they’re still as close as family.

‘Cheryl and Kimberley (Walsh) are like my sisters,’ she said. ‘But we don’t get to see Sarah as much as we’d like because she lives in Buckinghamshire.’

She added: ‘As soon as we’re together, it’s like we’ve never been apart.’

The Lincolnshire-born star didn’t comment on her relationship with Nadine Coyle, often seen as the outcast of the group, but said her and the other girls liked to relax and watch soap operas when they’re together.

She said: ‘We’ll have a night in dressed in trackies or PJs, with rubbish hair and no make-up.

‘We stock up on oven chips, chicken nuggets, olives and sweets, and put on EastEnders, which we then just talk over all night!’

January’s issue of Company is on sale now

“I was blessed. It was perfect,” she said on The Xtra Factor. “She understood me, I think. More as a friend… someone I could talk to if I was having a bad day.”

Speaking about comparisons between her and Cole, she added: “Do you know what? I’m my own person. I’m very different. I’m flattered to be compared, but I am my own person.”
