Nicola visited the ITV studios this morning to start her promotion of Beat of my Drum which is official released today.

First she appeared on Daybreak where she performed her single live. After that she went on to Lorraine to speak to Lorraine Kelly about her solo career.

Here is a 30 second advert of the Piers Morgan Life Stories interview that is airing this saturday at 10pm on ITV1.

The X Factor judge told Piers Morgan that her split from England footballer Ashley Cole had left her heartbroken, but she insisted she will ‘always love’ him.

The 27-year-old told Morgan’s ITV1 show Life Stories last night that she was at a loss to explain why the relationship had collapsed.

Miss Cole, 27, revealed she still regularly speaks to him, despite his infidelity during their three-and-a-half year marriage. She was granted a divorce in September.

The singer was in tears as she said she still believed he was ‘a genuinely nice guy’, adding: ‘Once we get over this obstacle, I hope we can be friends again. A part of me will always love Ashley.’

She explained: ‘Looking back on it, I feel numb. We had a great marriage and a fantastic wedding day but I don’t know where it went wrong.

‘To this day I still question that.’

Miss Cole also revealed that she wrote a will after doctors told her she was on the brink of death with malaria.

The X Factor star said she had been given just 24 hours to live as she fought the illness in hospital.

Newcastle-born Miss Cole had to miss the ‘boot camp’ stage of the current series of X Factor after falling ill with malaria in July. She was only fit enough to return once the live shows began last weekend.

Miss Cole was joined by her mother Joan and Girls Aloud bandmates Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts, who all wept during the interview as she discussed her battle against the disease.

Doctors had told the star she was close to death after she contracted the illness during a trip to Tanzania.

She admitted drinking three vodkas the night before a photoshoot which left her feeling like she had ‘the worst hangover’.

It turned out to be the start of her struggle with the illness.

In the interview, for Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, she admitted drawing up a will and considering how to divide up her possessions among friends and family.

She told Morgan: ‘I thought I was going to die, I actually thought I was going to die. I thought if I’m going to die I want to die soon because I was in so much pain’.

A source on the programme said: ‘She was given 24 hours to survive and told if her condition did not improve she would die.’

Miss Cole, who earned £1.2million for the last series of The X Factor, also
discussed her relationship with Simon Cowell, adding: ‘I have a connection with him like no one else.

‘He is one of the most important people in my life. He just gets me.’

However she confessed she missed being a ‘regular’ girl.

‘Sometimes I feel completely trapped,’ she said. ‘I just can’t go back to Newcastle and put on tracksuit bottoms and Ugg boots.’

The interview will be broadcast on ITV on October 23.

It was yesterday claimed that the X Factor judge, who has been rumoured to feature on the show for some time, will film her interview this week.

An ITV listing said: “In an exclusive interview, Cheryl Cole speaks candidly to Piers Morgan for the first time about her split from Ashley Cole and her battle with malaria.”

Piers Morgan’s Life Stories with Cole will be broadcast on October 23 at 10pm on ITV1.

Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh is well known for her voluptuous shape. But despite having long accepted her curvaceous figure, she still has some testing times when it comes to shopping for clothes.

The Girls Aloud star revealed shopping for jeans – for most women a wardrobe must-have – often reduces her to tears.

Kimberley said: ‘I’ve been known to shed a few tears at times [when buying jeans] it’s quite distressing!’

And she had some support from fellow curvy girl on show This Morning, Holly Willoughby who agreed saying: ‘I love shopping, I’m a woman and it’s my right to shop, but my least favourite shopping of all is for jeans…’

Kimberley spoke of her distress at not knowing what size will fit, and the tears come when the usual size just won’t do up.

She told Holly: ‘You think if your usual don’t fit you then you think ‘that’s no good – I’ve obviously put on weight’ but it’s not necessarily, it might just be the wrong cut. ‘I just end up in the changing rooms with twenty pairs of jeans on the floor feeling thoroughly depressed.’

Kimberley spoke to Holly and Phillip Schofield on show This Morning, as she promoted her new documentary for Sky 1 HD – Kimberley Walsh: Blue Jean Girl.

The singer’s programme is a look into the world of denim. She came up with the idea after struggling to find the perfect pair of jeans for myself and then it evolved into looking at the history of and all things related to denim.

Kimberley said: ‘We went back to the beginning which started in San Francisco – Levi Strauss did create the first pair of jeans that were called work overalls which were worn by miners and then cowboys generally because of its strength – they were really thick and hard wearing denim.

‘You don’t realise how obsessed with denim people are until you start on a journey like this. I was quite shocked.

‘I know when Marilyn Monroe first wore a pair or Levi’s – she wore men’s and pulled them in at the waist and them women were like “we want to wear jean” – it became a fashion thing then. ‘

Talking about other projects coming up Kimberly said she is hosting Channel Four’s The Five O’Clock show Thursday and Friday of this week.

She also cleared up the rumours about the future of Girls Aloud when Phil asked what was going on and if they were splitting up. Kimberley revealed: ‘We’ve definitely not split up, but we are enjoying trying out new things.

‘It funny because even though we are not together we are still supporting each other in our own little pathways, so it feels like you have got them with you. But no, we’ve not split up.’

And when asked if they had plans to do something together next year, she answered non-committally: ‘We don’t, but I think it will probably be next year – we actually haven’t started recording anything yet… but hopefully it won’t be too long.’
