Cheryl Cole isn’t the only member of Girls Aloud experimenting with her hair colour this week.

Just weeks ahead of her wedding, it appears Sarah Harding has also gone for a drastic new look as she debuted yet another new style this weekend.

The singer, who is set to wed DJ fiancé Tom Crane this month, was sporting a two-tone blonde and brunette cropped as she attended the Wireless Festival.

Just five months after she opted for dramatic dark brown hairstyle after years of a blonde, it appears the 29-year-old is gradually getting back to a lighter shade.

After sporting a lighter brown bob in recent weeks, Harding has now gone the whole hog and chopped off her hair to a short crop.

While she definitely stands out from the crowd with her two-tone style, let’s hope she reverts to a more traditional one shade when she ties the knot.

During an appearance on This Morning, she admitted she was gradually returning to blonde after a majority of her friends admitted they preferred it to brunette.

She explained: ‘The general consensus is that I’m preferred blonde. People know me for being blonde, so I’m slowly going back to that. I just wanted a change’.

Like an X Factor reject, that big blousy brunette look was never going to last the distance. So Cheryl Cole has cut her losses and gone sleek. And blonder.

The singer showed off her new hairstyle as she emerged in public for the first time since her dreams of winning over America were left in tatters.

Miss Cole, who turns 28 today and will celebrate with a £20,000 party tonight, is keen to forget the humiliation of being axed as a judge from X Factor USA after four days. A friend said she was making a fresh start – and going blonde was the first step.

The singer has sent a stylish purple and black invite to friends including her Girls Aloud bandmates Kimberley Walsh, Nicola Roberts and Sarah Harding, X Factor judges and record company executives.

The location has been kept secret so far, but reads: ‘You are invited to celebrate Cheryl’s birthday. Friday 1st July. 9pm til late. Venue to be advised.’

Second step is a little more time out. ‘Cheryl has had a long year, everything has really taken its toll. She’s taking some time to work out what she wants to do now. It’s a new year, a new look.’

Miss Cole arrived at the American embassy in Grosvenor Square, London yesterday to collect the U.S. work visa that would have allowed her to join Simon Cowell on the U.S. show.

She looked happy and healthy as she strode through the sunny London streets dressed in a black jacket, a £130 Stella McCartney vest top emblazoned with tulips, tight black jeans and towering black boots.

‘The application had already gone through from when she was doing the U.S. X Factor and it was the final date to complete it otherwise it would have to be done again,’ a source said. ‘What’s good is that now she can work in America whenever she wants – so she can still crack the States.’

When a star usually emerges with a drastic makeover it usually signals one thing – they have something to hawk.

And so, questions quickly arose when Cheryl Cole emerged from five weeks in hiding sporting a brand-new blonde bob.

Cheryl Cole’s waxwork at Madame Tussauds, London has had a makeover this week, in celebration for her 28th birthday. The waxwork is now wearing a replica outfit of what Cheryl wore to her first day of Judge’s auditions for X Factor USA. Her tiara has also been replaced with a ‘Happy Birthday’ one, which will stay in place over the weekend.

However after today’s news, the waxwork now seems outdated now Cheryl has a new hair do!

She’s been hiding from us for weeks, but earlier today, Cheryl was spotted, with a new hair-do! Its now honey blonde (L’Oréal Casting Crème Gloss Sweet Honey 8304) layered and just above the shoulder.

Cheryl and her new look were spotted at the American Embassy in London this morning. According to onlookers and gossipers, she was looking very healthy in a leather jacket and Stella McCartney vest top (this one apparently!)

Journalists have already seen the pictures, but prices for them are rumoured to be £10,000 and upwards!

No pictures have emerged just yet, but some journalists say on Twitter they will be in newspapers tomorrow.

She was snapped leaving Gilgamesh in London’s Camden and was steady on her feet, smiling and didn’t have a hair out of place.

She’s been a peroxide blonde for as long as we’ve known her.

But now Sarah Harding has appeared to have turned the old adage on its head and decided that it’s brunettes that have more fun.

The pop star was almost unrecognisable as she arrived at a catwalk show for London Fashion Week yesterday.

In fact, if she hasn’t been standing next to her Girls Aloud bandmate Nicola Roberts, we might have had to look more than twice at her dramatic transformation.

Sarah, 29, debuted her darker locks as she arrived the Vivienne Westwood Red Label show at The Royal Courts of Justice.

And being one fifth of one of the UK’s biggest girl groups guaranteed her a front row seat, which made showing off her new colour even better.

Sarah was a guest at the grande dame of British fashion’s Autumn-Winter 2011 collection.

She was accompanied by Roberts, who had been a regular face on the London Fashion Week scene yesterday.

Sarah’s new do looked striking against her brightly coloured patterned dress, which also flattered her slender figure.

Her darker hair made a nice change from her blonde, which she has had for years, but might also be something to do with her wedding this year to DJ fiancé Tom Crane.

Nadine Coyle has commented that she thinks Girls Aloud’s hair budget could “feed a small country”.

The singer believes that there would need to be a large amount invested in the band for them to get back together.

She said to I.D. magazine: “It would depend on everybody’s feeling. The money that would need to be invested in it is another factor.

“Between the five of us the hair budget alone was enough to feed a small country. It was through the roof! I think we bought our hairdresser an entire extension on the back of her house on one album campaign. If she wasn’t driving a Bentley then she should have been.”

Coyle also believes that Cheryl Cole’s solo success and appearance on ‘The X Factor’ will dictate whether the band will reform.

She said: “Cheryl’s success is a point for all the rest of us to consider from our own points of view.

“We’ve got to be realistic about what has happened to Cheryl over the last couple of years.”

The 3 Words star has removed her hair extensions and gone for a cherry red hair colour, a different look for the singer.

We’re not sure if Cheryl will go extension free on the weekend’s shows but we much prefer her with a more natural, shorter style.

After Dannii Minogue won the style war last weekend, Cheryl has got to up the stakes. Can she do it?
