Sarah Harding Shares Her Fashion And Party Secrets
Girls Aloud’s Sarah Harding showed the up and coming pop stars how to party when she attended the launch of DJ Hero 2 in London.
Her partner in crime was Noel Gallagher’s ex-wife Meg Mathews and the pair of them gamely tried out the DJ box and then danced to Mark Ronson’s expert set until the early hours of the morning.
They even stayed later than The Saturdays’ Vanessa White, showing that age is no barrier when it comes to raving.
Sarah – formerly known as hardcore Harding because of her late night antics – hasn’t hit the party circuit so much since Girls Aloud went on their break.
In fact, she’s probably been one of the quietest with Cheryl Cole pursuing a solo career, appearing on X Factor and designing a range of De Grisogono jewellery, Nicola Roberts launching a range of make-up and Kimberly Walsh presenting TV shows and designing her own jewellery range.
But Very caught up with the couple in the VIP area at the party for a quick chat to find out what they were up to and what was on their shopping lists for Halloween and Christmas parties:
QS: What are you guys working on right now?
SH: “I’ve just got back from LA after my third audition for X men 3. I am proud I got to that stage and next time the part will be mine.”
Girls Aloud star, creator of Jelly Ping Pong and now, fashion muse, Nicola Roberts was backstage at House of Holland’s S/S ‘11 show at London Fashion Week.
Talking about life as a fashion muse, her favourite shows and what inspires her about British fashion; Nicola proves herself as worthy inspiration to one Britain’s biggest fashion houses.

Henry Holland is a former fashion editor who burst on to the scene at LFW 2006, when he unveiled his irreverent fashion groupie slogan T-shirts. He’s since built a fashion empire, House of Holland. His muse is Nicola Roberts, Girls Aloud singer and founder of make-up line Dainty Doll
Tell us why Nicola is your muse.
HENRY The House of Holland girl is always the kind of girl I hang out with. When I was younger I suppose Agyness [Deyn] was my muse. Both her, my mum, step-mum and sister were hugely inspirational.
How would you describe the girl you dress?
HENRY She’s fun, independent… NICOLA Feisty. HENRY Feisty, yes [laughs]. She knows what she wants and no one tells her what to wear or do. NICOLA I think she’s a free spirit. HENRY She is. But the people who inspire me are all different as well.
How is Nicola different?
HENRY She’s so striking. Her hair and make-up are strong and she’s kind of like a Hitchcock woman; vintage, retro glamour. Nicola’s got a real sense of English rose about her and she likes to experiment. She doesn’t conform. NICOLA When I’m getting dressed in the morning it might take me four outfits until I start to feel the way I want to feel but nobody else has to think it looks OK, as long as I do.
The Girls Aloud singer, who has spoken in the past about her struggle to fit in because of her pale skin, claimed that beauty didn’t necessarily equal niceness.
“I have some people in my life who are stunning on the outside but maybe not as beautiful on the inside and I have people in my life who are such lovely people so I see them as being really beautiful,” she told Metro.co.uk in an exclusive chat.
“I think if you’re happy and you’re a nice person and you have a nice personality that always shines through.”
Roberts is set to launch her own make up range, Dainty Doll, which caters for women with pale skin.
“This is not a celebrity line of make up,” she insisted. “This is make up for women with pale skin of any age.”
Girls Aloud’s Sarah Harding loves Rihanna’s style choices, as she believes women should embrace their curves.
The Girls Aloud singer reveals she thinks the ‘Rude Boy’ hitmaker’s dress sense is to be admired, as she embraces her curvaceous figure with everything she wears.
She explained: “Rihanna is my style icon – she’s got such a great figure, all curves. It’s so nice to see that in an industry where curves are few and far between. Best of all, she’s not afraid to show them off! We should embrace our curves and enjoy looking like women.”
The blonde beauty – who is currently taking a hiatus from her music career to concentrate on acting – admits while she opts for a glamorous look on the red carpet, she prefers to slouch around in her leggings at home.
She said: “Leggings are my fashion weakness – even though they’re so overdone. It’s a form of fashion laziness and I can’t seem to stop wearing them! I wear them at home with a slouchy vest.”
Sarah, 28, also reveals she is pleased many trends have now gone “full circle”, she has had some fashion disasters in the past.
She added to heat magazine: “Vivienne Westwood is my favourite designer. Everyone’s gone full circle right now – her collection’s gone back to the ’80s and I love it.
“At some point, whether you do what we do or not, you’re always going to look back and go, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe I wore that!’ ”
