Cheryl’s bid to get her fella into judges’ house rejected
X Factor bosses have pulled the plug on plans for Cheryl Cole’s boyfriend to become a mentor on the show.
Troubled Cheryl, who is divorcing footballer Ashley Cole, wanted her US backing dancer love Derek Hough to join her in the judges’ houses stage next week.
But executive producer Richard Holloway pulled rank and vetoed the plan – effectively blocking Hough, 24, from any involvement in the smash-hit series.
Instead, Black Eyed Peas singer Will.i.am will be parachuted in to join Girls Aloud singer Cheryl, 27, in Ascot, Berks, next week, when she will pick her three X Factor finalists.
A show source said: “Cheryl has barely spent a day apart from Derek and with his background in dance she thought he would be a great mentor.
“But when Richard Holloway got wind of the idea he stepped in and immediately said ‘No’. This is the biggest show on TV so he feels that likewise mentors should be the biggest names in the music industry, not the judge’s latest squeeze. It’s unprofessional to say the least.
“Cheryl may adore Derek but unfortunately that feeling isn’t shared among the X Factor bigwigs.
“She was persistent in wanting Derek by her side, but it was explained to her that he is a dancer not a singer, and that X Factor is about singing.” Derek is known in the US as a professional on Dancing With The Stars, the American version of Strictly Come Dancing, but here is simply Cheryl’s boyfriend.
Even when the X Factor wasn’t on our screens Cheryl Cole has been the centre of the gossip and news headlines but since X Factor 2010 started 4 weeks ago her private (or public) life has been under the spotlight even more so.
Cheryl has just this week landed back on UK soil after spending nearly two months in LA. When she was released from hospital after her experience with malaria Cheryl flew out to America to recover in the safe arms of rumoured new love interest Derek Hough.
After returning back to the UK without him any questions asking if they were an actual couple are even stronger now. This move would suggest that there has been a break up or split?
But Cheryl’s return to the UK could be for a number of reasons, 24 hours ago her divorce with footballer Ashley Cole had been confirmed, that could mean she has business to finalise with her legal staff?
Speculation has arisen on whether Cheryl will remain as Cole, the surname adopted from her former husband or whether she will return to her maiden name of Tweedy. It had also been suggested that Cheryl would stay in LA for the Judges Houses’ stage of the X Factor.
The first auditions are nearing to an end on our screens and we are about to see what has been happening at Boot Camp, Cheryl flying home to the UK could be in preparation for her come back to the show which she may be intending to do in the UK?
Cheryl Cole’s second single “Promise This” for her new album, a song supposedly about her recent battle with malaria has this week being leaked on to the internet.
A short 50 second clip featuring the beginning of the song while Cheryl heard in the background commenting on how scared but nervous she was can now be found on video streaming sites on the web. This could just be a publicity stunt for the release of Cheryl’s up and coming new single but all this activity around her new single and returning home is a good sign for the ITV show X Factor.
With Cheryl back on home soil this could be a positive sign for her reappearance in future UK X Factor shows. After spending so much time in the states it looked, according to those who Bet On X Factor, like Cheryl was trying to build a profile over there in the attempt to land a role on the USA X Factor judging panel instead. The biggest sign will be to see where she films the Judges Houses’ stage from.
Cheryl Cole is to select her three X Factor finalists at a mansion in Dorset.
The Girls Aloud star is reported to be heading to a £4.5 million mansion at Sandbanks that boasts five en suite bedrooms and offers gorgeous views across Poole Harbour.
Cheryl, 27, who has just returned to the UK from LA, has previously whittled down her favourite contestants to mentor in exotic Morocco and swanky Cannes, but after recovering from malaria, producers want her close to home.
Derek Hough remains in the US to work on Dancing With The Stars but it’s claimed Cheryl wants the dancer to jet across the pond to join her as an advisor and choreographer if he can fit it into his schedule.
Simon Cowell reportedly wants Cheryl Cole to call time on her relationship with dancer Derek Hough for the sake of her career.
The music mogul
apparently made his feelings clear when he invited Derek over for dinner at his London mansion, The Mirror newspaper reported.
Simon, 50, is said to have told Derek – who is rumoured to be dating the Girls Aloud singer – that Cheryl would be better off single.
A close friend of Derek’s reportedly told the Mirror, ‘During the dinner Simon told Derek, ‘It’s nothing personal, I just don’t think Cheryl should be spending so much time with you so soon after her marriage breakup’.
‘She thinks he is wise and emotionally intelligent, which is why Derek is so scared that Simon’s opinion could hurt them in the long run.’
But a spokesman for Simon denied that he had stuck his nose in, telling the Mirror, ‘Simon wouldn’t dream of telling anyone what to do in their private relationships.’
Derek Hough is Cheryl Cole’s ‘rock’ says Joe McElderry
Cheryl’s X Factor protégé Joe McElderry says that her new man Derek Hough, who she’s been reportedly dating for the past four months, will help her recover from her divorce from love-rat Ashley Cole.
He told Closer magazine: “I went to see Cheryl perform in London and she was dancing with Derek. Afterwards backstage, he was so sweet and caring around her. He’s obviously her rock. They’ve become really close – he’s perfect for her.”
This cheryl piece is taken from a diary Piers Morgan wrote for the Daily Mail.
I’ve now clocked up nearly two years staying at the Beverly Wilshire in Los Angeles, making me one of the longest-serving residents since Warren Beatty, who stayed here for a whole decade in the Seventies.
Tonight, the general manager, a splendid chap called Radha Arora, threw a lavish dinner party on the terrace for Celia and I.
First through the door, obviously, was Amanda Holden, a woman who has never been known to be late for a glass of free champagne. ‘I need an emergency vodka Red Bull, I’m jet-lagged,’ she announced.
Next was Sharon Osbourne, making it one of the very rare occasions when I’m in the company of both my female co-judges at the same time. And minutes later, in the greatest miracle since Lazarus emerged from behind that stone, in strolled Cheryl Cole.
‘You’re alive!’ I cried, genuflecting in mock shock.
‘Piers,’ she sighed, ‘don’t you’se be daft already please. I’ve only just got here.’
She looked fabulous, considering what she’s been through. Wearing a shimmering dark blue dress, very high heels, and longer than usual flowing auburn hair.
And by her side was her new man, the American dancer Derek Hough.
‘Like a drink?’ I asked.
‘I’m not supposed to…’
‘Nobody’s supposed to. Treat yourself…’
‘Well I suppose a small apple martini isn’t going to kill me.’
‘No, the malaria might but a martini definitely won’t.’
Brian Friedman has apparently ‘spilled the beans’ on Cheryl and Derek’s “relationship”.
He supposedly told the Daily Mirror: “I’ve very close to them both. They’re amazing people and make a great couple. They’re very, very cute together. ‘Cheryl and Derek both seem incredibly happy right now, that’s all I can say.”
This is the first time someone close to Cheryl & The X Factor has publically announced the couple as an item.
However, Brian took to his twitter in the early hours of this morning to deny such rumours:
Another False story breaking in the UK involving me. Checking facts should always be a must.
Is Brian just trying to cover his tracks to retract his comments or have the press twisted his words in interview?
Fans have nicknamed the pair ‘Cherek’, and have been speculating for months that they may be an item. Some have even made fanfiction stories about their relationship together.
Cheryl Cole reportedly wants rumoured beau Derek Hough to help her at the Judges’ House phase of the X Factor.
The Girls Aloud singer is said to want Hough to assist her in chosing the acts she wants to mentor on the live shows instead of her previous aides pal Kimberley Walsh and Pop Idol champ Will Young.
According to the Daily Star, Chezza allegedly believes that Dancing With The Stars performer Derek can help her chose artists that can not only sing, but dance as well.
This tactic will impress the likes of X Factor boss Simon Cowell who has claimed that he is looking for an ‘all-round’ performer on this year’s show.
A source told the newspaper: “Simon thought last year’s contestants didn’t move enough. He called one of them, Stacey Solomon, a singing candle,”
They added: “Cheryl thinks that having dancer and choreographer Derek on board will boost her chances of winning. She can help with their singing and he can teach them some moves.”
It has also been suggested that the Parachute singer has ditched plans to film the judges’ houses stage at her home in Surrey so she can remain in LA with Derek – who is apparently on the brink of proposing marriage to Cheryl.
A source told Now magazine: “The only reason he hasn’t pushed it is because she’s so recently split from Ashley….But when the time’s right, within a year he thinks, he’ll ask her.”
