Having just flown to the States for the first time since being dumped from “X Factor,” Cheryl Cole stepped out for a weekend beginning meal in Beverly Hills on Friday night (July 8).

The British beauty was joined by gal pal Kimberley Walsh, with the two ladies heading to Sushi Roku to meet up with a few friends including former flame Derek Hough.

Of the trip to the States, a report from The Mirror tells that Miss Cole isn’t in the U.S. to meet with TV execs – rather she just wanted a relaxing getaway.

The Mirror’s insider said, “Cheryl booked this holiday 24 hours before jetting off.She originally wanted a girls’ holiday with the band – well, assuming Nadine Coyle would be ‘busy’. She’s offered to fly Sarah over, and there is a chance she’ll join Cheryl and Kimberley later this week.”

Cheryl Cole and Derek Hough sealed their love for each other yesterday with a ­romantic New Year’s stroll on a ­sun-drenched beach.

The X Factor judge looked carefree and relaxed as she walked with ­American dancer Derek – who she had treated to a week-long getaway to South Africa.

Under a clear bue sky the couple laughed and joked as Cheryl waved goodbye to a ­nightmare year in which she divorced cheating husband Ashley Cole and nearly died from ­malaria.

Cheryl, 27, started 2011 by sharing a passionate kiss with Derek, 25, in front of hundreds of guests at a lavish New Year’s Eve party – their first public display of their love.

They toasted each other with ­champagne as the midnight countdown begun. And as the clock struck 12, they danced to Pink’s party anthem Raise Your Glass before smooching their way into the New Year.

CHERYL Cole last night revealed she’s still single after her split with hubby Ashley. The X Factor beauty told Alan Carr: “I’ve had no time. A lady doesn’t talk about these things.” Her comment follows speculation over Cheryl’s on-off relationship with American dancer Derek Hough, 25.

He comforted her after she separated from Chelsea ace Ashley, 29 – and the pair shared a holiday together in Tanzania where Cheryl contracted malaria.

Cheryl, 27, also told how she “kicked off” when Simon Cowell gave her an envelope containing vouchers for Botox injections as a Christmas gift.

She told comedian Carr at the recording of his chat show: “I still haven’t opened mine. I’ll give it back to him… he could use it himself!

“But he looks younger now than he did before. Maybe the Botox works!”

Cheryl – wearing a slashed-to-the-thigh black dress – denied there was any sexual tension between her and the music mogul, 51.

She said: “There is nothing sexual with Simon. We have good chemistry.”

She told that, behind the scenes, the atmosphere on X Factor this year had been “intense”.

She admitted: “It is hardcore backstage. We want to kill each other by the end.”

Cheryl also revealed she wanted a loyal and warm new friend to cuddle up to this festive break – but fellas need not apply.

She said: “I want a puppy for Christmas. A big dog you can roll around with.”

She couldn’t have looked any happier as she left Los Angeles after a whirlwind trip to visit her close friend Derek Hough.

Cheryl Cole smiled widely and beamed at photographers as she headed back to London ahead of this weekend’s X Factor shows after spending just 24 hours with her dancer pal.

The 27-year-old singer texted on her mobile phone as she walked through LA’s LAX Airport ready to catch her flight, and looked stunning in her all-black outfit of cropped trousers, high-heeled boots and a trendy double-breasted jacket.

The X Factor judge was spotted keeping a low-profile in Derek’s car as he pulled up outside the plush Century apartment block in Century City on Wednesday, shortly after arriving in the US city.

While Hough, 25, was happy to be photographed in his jeans and shirt, Cole hid in the front seat of his black Audi – with just her dyed red hair just visible over the dashboard.

The day of Cheryl’s visit coincided with Derek writing a public declaration of congratulations to the singer on his Twitter page after her single Promise This got to number one on Sunday.

He wrote yesterday: ‘Dimples is number one wahooooooooooooooooo !!!! So proud of her, especially after such a tough year.’

The pair haven’t seen each other for the beginning of September since Cheryl returned to London from LA for the X Factor live shows.

CHERYL COLE has had the showbiz world poring over her every move with dancer DEREK HOUGH for weeks – but did they take the final step?

I was never convinced the good-looking pair ever got as steamy between the sheets as they did on the dancefloor. Today I can confirm that really is the case.

A source close to football ace ASHLEY COLE’s ex-wife Cheryl last night revealed: “There was never anything sexual between her and Derek. He’s a close friend and was there for her during a difficult time. That’s it.

“I mean, as if she would move a new boyfriend into her marital home just after splitting with Ashley.

“Ashley was the man of her dreams and it’s going to take her a long time to get over him.”

The first member of Cheryl’s inner circle, Britain’s Got Talent judge AMANDA HOLDEN, who spent time with the, er, “couple”, has confirmed the relationship was never consummated. She told me at the British Olympic Ball on Friday night: “I knew all along that Cheryl and Derek were just friends, not lovers.

“I saw them together and he is very gentlemanly. He is the perfect escort and companion for her but that is it.”

Cheryl Cole’s blond dancing shadow, Derek Hough, has told his best mate that his relationship with The X Factor judge is not sexual and he is actually seeing someone else.

Mark Ballas insists the speculation around the pair has been ‘distorted’.

‘Derek and Cheryl are just friends and are very professional,’ Ballas said.

‘Just because they are both hot and are a good act, things get distorted, just like they are distorted when couples dance together. Derek is very professional and keeps things that way. That’s all they are – friends,’ said 24-year-old Ballas.

‘He’s dating other people. He’s working really hard and dating.’

Hough, 25, joined Cole, 27, on her first holiday to Tanzania after her split with Ashley Cole, 29.

He was one of the few people allowed to see her in intensive care as she battled malaria following their getaway.

There is now speculation their partnership is a decoy for her other close friendship with 35-year-old Black Eyed Peas singer, Will.i.am.

The pair reportedly looked ‘cosy’ as they filmed Cheryl’s judge’s house for The X Factor together over the weekend.

In the meantime, Cheryl has shown off the dancing skills she learned from Derek – and her cleavage – in her video for new song Promise This.

Cheryl Cole’s new boyfriend has written a sickly-sweet rock ballad for her which includes the lyrics: “My heart’s set free.”

Derek Hough – who composed the cheesy love song, called Epiphany, around the time their romance was made public – also sings “there’s fire inside and a desire I hide”.

Hough laid down the track during an impromptu session at record ­producer Kai ­McKenzie’s studio in Orpington, Kent, earlier this year.

He has told friends he now hopes to re-record Epiphany in the UK as a DUET with Cheryl.

A close friend of Derek’s said: “The song was written in about 45 minutes and it’s obvious who it’s about.

“Derek is very discreet, he doesn’t show his feelings but everything comes out in his music.

“He’s known as a dancer but he’s a talented singer and ­songwriter and when he wrote the song the words just flowed out. It’s written as a duet and Derek said he wants to record it with Cheryl as the second ­vocalist. We did another track a few months later and I asked him if he wanted to go into music and he said, ‘I’m just doing it for fun but I love writing and performing.’”

Derek, 25, has become so close to the Girls Aloud singer, 27, that he’s told his family he plans to move in with Cheryl in Los Angeles.
