A sombre Cheryl Cole flew out of London today as she prepared to make her first public appearance since her marriage split from Ashley Cole.

Looking gaunt in a pair of black skinny jeans, grey T-shirt and sunglasses, the X Factor judge refused to answer questions as she rushed through the departures lounge at Heathrow.

The 26-year-old is heading to Copenhagen, where she is due to perform on the Danish version of The X Factor tomorrow night. Despite her personal turmoil, the singer has decided the show must go on and is fulfilling her commitment to perform in Denmark.

After hitting No.1 in her native Britain with her debut solo album 3 Words, Cheryl is currently at the beginning of a European publicity blitz.
Cheryl is a relative unknown in Europe because Girls Aloud have always focused their career solely on the UK and Ireland.

Aside from their 2003 cover of Eighties track Jump for the Love Actually soundtrack, Girls Aloud’s biggest hit in Europe has been Something Kinda Ooh hitting number 9 in the Romanian charts four years ago.

Meanwhile Cheryl’s only solo single in Denmark so far has been her debut track Fight For This Love, which reached a disappointing 29.

Apart from attending a Lady GaGa concert on Friday night, today marked the only time Cheryl has been seen in public since she announced she was splitting from the Chelsea left-back on February 24.

Cheryl Cole has landed back in the UK, and rumours suggest the star is set to tell Ashley Cole that she wants a divorce.
Looking downbeat and dressed in black, Cheryl Cole made her way through Heathrow airport this morning, having spent a few days in LA.

The star, flanked by two police officers, hid behind large black sunglasses and a trilby hat as she was ushered through a side exit in the arrivals lounge where a number of photographers were waiting.

Having made her way through the group of photographers, Cheryl darted into a silver Mercedes which sped away.

She had fled to the US, minus her wedding ring, following the sex text allegation surrounding hubby Ashley Cole. She reportedly texted Cole from LA to say their marriage was over.

The singer, who has been tipped to move to the US to be a judge on Simon Cowell’s American version of the X Factor, is thought to want to put a statement out about a split by the end of the week so that she can begin to move on.

A spokesman for the Girls Aloud star refused to comment today.

Cheryl Cole spent eight hours in her LA hotel room with close friend and confidante Derek Hough as she prepared for a future without her cheating husband Ashley.

The X Factor star, who arrived at Los Angeles LAX Airport last night, believed to be bound for London, was reportedly being comforted by the dancer who is helping her through her marriage crisis.

With the couple’s break-up due to be formally announced in the coming days, as the Daily Mail revealed, Mrs Cole is thought to have shelved a promotional trip to the Netherlands, scheduled for this afternoon, in order to plan her split from Ashley.

The petite brunette spent the evening at her exclusive Beverley Hills hotel, The London, locked away with Mr Hough, a talented dancer, The Sun reported. Mr Hough – a professional on Dancing With The Stars, the U.S. version of Strictly Come Dancing, stayed with Mrs Cole until 4am when he left with his dog.

Mr Hough – who danced with Mrs Cole in her ITV special at Christmas and co-stars in her forthcoming pop video Parachutes – has been Mrs Cole’s closest confidante since she arrived in Los Angeles last week.

Initially, sources close to Mrs Cole, 26, insisted she and Mr Hough, 24, were ‘just good friends’ and that the pair ‘enjoyed each other’s company’, but nothing more. However, in recent days the pair have become virtually inseparable.

A source revealed: ‘Derek and Cheryl certainly like to spend time together. He has been trying to put a smile back on Cheryl’s face.’

Mrs Cole’s burgeoning friendship with Mr Hough comes as Mrs Cole prepares to begin divorce proceedings against her errant husband.
