It is early September and the BBC has been invited to a swanky recording studio to hear a handful of tracks from Nadine Coyle’s new solo album.
Imagine our surprise when we are ushered into a studio to sit, unsupervised, with the Girls Aloud star as she plays us her new music directly from an iPod.
Dressed casually in skinny jeans and a scoop-necked purple top, Coyle sings along and plays air guitar over the top of her debut single, Insatiable – clearly delighted to have an audience after a year squirrelled away in the studio.
The meeting occurs under a veil of secrecy, as the material is still under wraps. But two weeks later, after Insatiable premieres on radio, we meet up again.
“The reaction’s been really, really good,” the 25-year-old purrs in her distinctive Derry drawl.
“People are into the music. They’re saying it’s really sexy and I’m blown away with it.”
Was it supposed to be sexy?
“Oh yes, it was. That’s how I felt when I was writing and singing it. You know that feeling of ‘ooohhh – I just can’t get enough?’ That’s the mood I was in.”
Dare we ask who it’s about?
[Sternly] “NO! You may not ask!”
As we posted yesterday, this song has been playing on Galaxy radio this week and its official, the UK version of the Nicki Minaj & Will.i.am – Check It Out track definitely features Cheryl Cole!
Kimberley Walsh has joined half the nation in saying that Cheryl Cole has been wrongly labelled a villain after a week of The X Factor-related controversy.
Cheryl Cole faced public backlash when she let Cher Lloyd, 17, through to the live show stages despite her messing up at the X Factor judge’s house.
The Geordie singer was also criticised by a few who thought wildcard choice Treyc should’ve gone through instead of Katie Waissel.
But the Promise This singer’s Girl Aloud bandmate, Kimberley Walsh, has spoken up for her pal in her latest OK! column.
She said: “Surely most people agree that it’s ridiculous how much scrutiny Cheryl’s come under for her choices on The X Factor.
“Cheryl has picked the people she’s excited to work with and feels she can groom and make into a star.”
And Kimberley who showed up to support Cheryl at her jewellery launch recently stands by her words, in fact she thinks the girls could go the whole hog.
She added: “Regardless of what people think of her decision, it is her choice and that’s why she’s the judge.
“I think those girls will be really strong in the competition and people should respect her decision.”

Last night was the first live results show of The X Factor. One of Cheryl’s girls, Katie Waissel, got saved by the judges as she was in the bottom 3 by public voting.

According to Pop Justice, the Girls Aloud star has added her vocals to the single, with Galaxy radio apparently already playing the track.
A fan page for the Promise This singer also added to the speculation on Twitter, posting on the social networking site: “Cheryl Cole will feature on Will.i.am’s new single “Check It Out” with Nicki Minaj.”
Cheryl has previously worked with the Black Eyed Peas star on his previous single, Heartbreaker, as well as recruiting the rapper for her first solo LP, 3 Words.
While we still wait for news on Cheryl’s rumoured Will.I.Am and Minaj collaboration to be confirmed, celebrity blogger Perez Hilton has also claimed that Chez has covered an old Britney Spears song on her second solo album.
The tracklisting for Cole’s new LP, Messy Little Raindrops, featured the track Amnesia, which Hilton claims was featured as a bonus track on Britney’s UK version of her album, Circus.
Cheryl, who plans to release her sophomore album on 1st November, has also worked with the likes of Dizzee Rascal and Travie McCoy on the LP.
The Northern Irish singer, whose debut single Insatiable is released next month, said she had spoken to Nicola Roberts.
She said, in an interview in Hello!: “I was talking to Nicola. She said ‘Congratulations,’ and ‘That’s lovely’. It was really nice to hear from her. But I think everybody has been so busy. I’ve been finishing work so late, my eyes have been banging together.”
