Cheryl Cole may be forced to film the ‘judges houses’ segment of the X Factor in Britain – as she could still be too poorly to travel.
The judges – Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Cheryl and Dannii Minogue – normally jet away to somewhere exotic to whittle down their finalists.
However, as the fragile star continues to recover at home after battling Malaria, it has become clear that producers may have to amend their plans.
A show source told the Mail: ‘At this stage we are looking at different ways to make things as easy as possible for Cheryl.’
Last year, Mrs Cole, 27, who mentored the boys, whittled down her finalists in in Marrakech, Morocco, with the help of Will Young.
A source close to Mrs Cole added: ‘No decision has been made yet about judges homes. It’s still some way off so we will see closer to the time.’
New mum Minogue, who gave birth to son Ethan earlier this month, is expecting to rejoin the show for the judges house at the end of August following her maternity leave.
Last week, Cowell, 50, admitted that the petite brunette was keen to return to work.
She missed the final X Factor auditions in Manchester – and will miss the boot camp auditions this week.
But Cowell said: ‘I think she is keen to get back to work. I just want to make sure she doesn’t rush back too early.
‘We’re going to have a conversation about that.’

Cheryl Cole’s weight has dramatically plunged HALF A STONE as she battles malaria, the News of the World can reveal.
The stricken X Factor judge is now just over 7 STONE and so thin that her bones poke out.
Her condition is so fragile that doctors have banned her from dancing – and it could be SIX MONTHS before she can do her strenuous stage routines again.
Last night a source said: “Cheryl is far too thin. She was 7½st to 8st before but she doesn’t have any meat on her now. Her hip bones literally stick out. She won’t be dancing for some time. Her routines were exhausting.”
Cheryl’s weight plummeted after she was struck down with malaria following a holiday in Tanzania with close dancer pal Derek Hough.
The skeletal 5ft 3in star has been put on a strict weight-gain programme as she recovers.
Her Body Mass Index has dropped from a healthy 19.8 to an underweight 17.4 – some model agencies insist models have a minimum of 18.5.
Cheryl, 27, is now recovering at her £6 million Surrey mansion helped by mum Joan Callaghan and Derek. The source added: “Cheryl understands that she now has to follow medical advice. Her ridiculously busy work routine is off so there’s time for her to focus on getting healthy and putting the weight back on.”
She has pulled out of the X Factor for a few months and the V Festival in August.

Kimberly Walsh has claimed that she has only ever had two boyfriends.
The Girls Aloud star told Reveal that she may one day marry her long-term partner, ex-Triple 8 singer Justin Scott.
Walsh said: “I caught the bouquet at my sister’s wedding last weekend, so maybe we’ll wed soon. We’ve been together seven years, we know it will happen eventually.
“I’m a one-guy girl and I’ve never played the field. I’ve only had one previous boyfriend. I’ve just had two good, healthy relationships in my life.”
She added of how her boyfriend is treated in public: “People can be so rude, he can be standing right beside me but some people don’t even acknowledge he’s there. Justin’s all right about it – but I’m not. So I go to things on my own now.”

Sarah Harding previously denied that she wants to release a solo album, before admitting that she was writing and thinking about recording an album, and now we know for sure she is!
At least, according to her boyfriend.
Sarah’s boyfriend Tom Crane, who is DJing in Ibiza, told reporters, “I’m really missing Sarah. I’ve been in Ibiza loads and she’s busy recording in the studio.”
But don’t expect him to tell us anything about how Sarah’s feeling about fellow band member Cheryl Cole’s illness – he’s not allowed!
He said: “I always get told off for blabbing.”

Pop singer Cheryl Cole left hospital earlier today, the Daily Mail has learned.
The star, who was rushed to hospital 11 days ago after being struck down with malaria, has now returned to her home in Hurtmore, Surrey.
The star, 27, will continue her recovery at her £6 million six-bedroomed former marital home.
A close friend of the star revealed: ‘Cheryl’s at home now. She left the clinic early today.’
The star was rushed to hospital on July 4 after being struck down with infection disease malaria.
She was then quickly transferred to the Hospital For Tropical Diseases specialist unit at University College Hospital in central London as her condition worsened dramatically.
However, as her condition improved she was transferred back to a private clinic in London six days ago.
And on Tuesday evening, X Factor Svengali Simon Cowell – while admitting he had not been able to see her – had laid the ground for her discharge from hospital by telling the Mail: ‘She will be out within the next day or two.’
Mrs Cole has already pulled out of her role in the boot camp section of the X Factor, which is due to start next week.
Her planned performances at the V Festival in Chelmsford and Stafford on August 21 and 22 have also been axed.
And the timing of the release of her second album – which had been due in October – remains under pressure.
