Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts is back in the studio on her own – as a songwriter.
The singer was given a publishing deal to write songs that could be used by other acts, the ECHO can reveal today.
It was rumoured Nicola, from Runcorn, was recording a solo album after signing a deal with label Sony.
But a spokesman for Nicola denied the 24-year-old was working on an album without her fellow Girls Aloud bandmates.
He told the ECHO: “There is no truth in Nicola being signed to Sony Records. She has been in the studio but as a songwriter.
“She has a publishing deal and is writing songs that may be used by other people.”
It was recently reported in a national newspaper and on entertainment websites that Nicola was bored of waiting for the girls to regroup.
They claimed the singer, who was voted sexiest redhead ever in a nationwide poll earlier this year, planned to give it a go as a solo star.
