Just days after revealing her belief in traditional relationships, pop star Kimberley Walsh has told how she felt under ‘pressure’ to have sex when she was a teenager.

The Daily Mail told last month how the Girls Aloud singer had never been tempted by the free-and-easy approach common of so many of her peers in showbusiness.

Indeed, in a refreshing antidote to the lewd boasts of so many public figures, the 28-year-old revealed she had only had two lovers in her life.

Now Miss Walsh has told how, as a teenager, she desisted from losing her virginity even though she was under intense pressure.

Echoing the dilemma of so many young people, Miss Walsh revealed: ‘As a teenager, I felt the pressure to have sex to an extent where I felt like: ‘Oh God, maybe I should have done it by now.’

‘But it was never strong enough to make me feel like I should act on it.’

She continued ‘I was quite headstrong about sex and knew it wasn’t something I was going to give away easily.

‘Sex should be with someone you really like so I refused to be forced by peer pressure. Sex is a scary thing, you’ve got to wait for it to feel right.”

Speaking in the current issue of more! magazine, which is aimed at teenage girls, Miss Walsh also told how sex should never be the most important aspect of a relationship.

The star – who was discovered after appearing on Popstars: The Rivals – continued: ‘Of course it’s important but it’s not the be-all and end-all. There are other things that are more important for a long-term relationship.’

Miss Walsh has been dating her boyfriend, fellow pop singer Justin Scott for seven years. Her previous boyfriend was lower league footballer Martin Pemberton.
