Cheryl Cole showed once and for all she is definitely on the road to recovery yesterday, as she left her hotel to go shopping with friend Derek Hough.

The 27-year-old couldn’t stop smiling as she indulged in some retail therapy wearing an all American girl outfit of a trendy checked shirt, tiny pair of shorts and high tan sandals.

And it wasn’t just window shopping the Girls Aloud star enjoyed – she picked up two pairs of £180 Nike Air Max trainers during her day out at The Grove, apparently to help her on her quest to be fit and healthy as she recovers from malaria.

Cheryl also had a look around the Nordstrom and Abercrombe and Fitch stores with Derek, who looked casual in a pale blue shirt and jeans.

It already seems Cheryl’s Los Angeles holiday, which she started last week, is doing her the world of good, as the star looked happy and healthy as she stepped out yesterday.
