The X Factor 2010 bootcamp is likely to be pushed back in order for Cheryl Cole to be able to attend, it has been reported. Currently planned to start on later this month on July 22, the bootcamp stages are also said have some big and exciting changes in store for this year’s show.

Cheryl Cole, who has spent a week in intensive care after contracting malaria, is not expected to have recovered by the current date, putting the plans in jeopardy. With new mum Dannii Minogue already ruled out, it could just be Simon and Louis choosing the acts who go through to judges houses this year.

A source said: “The judges have been really supportive of Cheryl, Simon in particular. He originally contacted her management team to inform them there was no hurry; her health was number one priority. She obviously missed a few of the regional auditions and bootcamp is due to start on July 22nd. Simon had a meeting with X Factor and ITV1 execs yesterday to instruct them to push back bootcamp until Cheryl is ready.”

It is also expected Cheryl will not be travelling abroad with her acts this year at the judges houses stage of the competition.

However big changes to the bootcamp format are also being planned, with the source adding: “There will be some big, exciting changes happening to this part of the new series anyway, so Cheryl’s role in proceedings will depend on how she is.

“Cheryl and her medical team are confident she will be back to full health, and behind the judging panel, come the TV studio audience finals in October.”

ITV has so far declined to comment on the reports.
